Equicast can go on the hoof without a shoe or with a shoe
over the cast or under the cast.
No shoe: would be appropriate for horses in light
work.
Cast over the shoe: would be appropriate for horses
in moderate work or hooves that have prolapsed soles (no heels)
Shoe over the cast: would be for horses in solid work
Shoes over the casts are very similar in traction and wear
to horses wearing regular shoes.

I have a percheron who was having an issue with abcess growout cracks. I tried shoeing to keep his hoof from spreading out when he bore weight on it but that was just weakening his hoof wall even more. Not to mention the risk of losing a shoe in sticky, winter Ohio mud. My farrier had just heard about Equicast and we decided to try it. It was easy for him to apply as per the directions. We only used one draft size roll and that lasted approxamatley 4 weeks, in winter, outside during the day. The bottom wore out but the bit around his toe was intact, which was what he needed. We reapplied as needed and it worked AWSOMELY!! I am totally satisfied with this product and have recomended it to everyone I know!! I can't say enough good thing about Equicast, I love it!! Thank you!!
